How the Barbarian

 came to be

While in his early 20's, Barbarian creator and Pacific Northwest native JC Davis embarked upon an epic journey around Mexico.

Like any intrepid cultural ambassador, he enthusiastically partook in the region’s primary food groups: tacos & margaritas. Little did JC know that his pursuit of adventure, delicious food, and cold adult beverages would eventually lead him to his life’s calling.

Over the course of his journey, JC noticed that limes and lime juice accompanied just about every dish and drink. As such, citrus juicers were everywhere; a simple, utilitarian tool of the people leaving its mark on virtually verish and drink. Upon his return from Mexico, JC found himself smitten with the authentic cuisine and culture of Mexico and the simple lime squeezer was his ticket back on those cold, cloudy Pacific Northwest days.

Weeks turned into months, and months into years. Eventually, the epic journey to Mexico faded into memory.

JC’s lime squeezer had become a trusted friend, much like his old multi-tool pliers. On one fateful day several years later, JC unwittingly placed his multi-tool pliers next to his trusty lime squeezer. A light bulb moment occurred. The hair stood up on the back of his neck. Synapses fired and sparks flew. In that moment, the multifunction bar tool soon to be known far and wide as “The Barbarian” was conceived.

After exhaustive design research, countless mockups, and many revisions, JC’s creation was finally ready and Barbarian Bar Tools, the company, was launched. Following a successful and validating Kickstarter campaign, The Barbarian will finally hit retail shelves in Spring of 2015.
